Following are some of the most famous quotes by Nikola Tesla -

Intelligent people tend to have less friends than the average person. The smarter you are, he more selective you become.

A man who attains knowledge becomes selective by nature. They can have many acquaintances, but they don't have many friends. They know who are their true friends and whom they can count on at times of need.

One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.

One should always have a clear vision of what they are thinking about. Once they know what they are thinking about, they get engrossed with it so much that they become insane about it.

The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine.

You might be working for someone else, being underpaid, following your dreams, getting insulted and humiliated, not getting what you deserve and things are not going the way you wish it would. Some work presentation is not in your hand, but what you can do is give your best in whatever you are doing, and it will pay off one day. You will have the future just the way you have designed it to be. You can control your actions today to make the future just the way you want.

Anti-social behaviour is a trait of intelligence in a world full of conformists.

The world is full of conformists. They lead a life just as they are told to live it. Those who are intelligent are somewhat anti-social. They don't get mixed with the crowd of conformists rather they take out time to sit alone and think out of the box; they are curious and they question the prevailing illogical notions and traditions in society. Anti-social behavior is a unique characteristic of non-conformists or intelligent people.

It's not the love you make. It's the love you give.

Making love is a superficial notion. What counts the most is how much love you give. Giving love is the supreme act of selflessness. One who gives love is the true, selfless person.

The desire that guides me in all I do is the desire to harness the forces of nature to the service of mankind.

One should always work for the betterment of mankind. Everything one does, should be guided by the desire to serve mankind. One should work by following nature and its resources and trying to do what is best for humanity.

My belief is firm in a law of compensation. The true rewards are ever in proportion to the labor and sacrifices made.

One gets what he deserves. Whatever you are doing now, how much effort you are putting in, and the compromises you are making will ultimately prove fruitful in the future. Things you do today will be rewarded to you sooner or later. Your efforts will of today will prove how successful you will become tomorrow.

Misunderstandings are always caused by the inability of appreciating one another's point of view.

Misunderstandings occur due to miscommunication between people. When we value each other's opinions; when we respect the difference of opinions and accept it, we avoid creating misunderstandings.

If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6, and 9, then you would have a key to the universe.

The numbers 3,6,9 represent the divine domain of the physical world. The physical world constitutes all the other numbers, i.e., 1,2,4,5,7. According to Tesla 3 6 9 code, this physical world is controlled and centered around the spiritual world. This spiritual world emanates force, energy, and information, culminating in formulating material.

Peace can only come as a natural consequence of universal enlightenment and merging of races, and we are still far from this blissful realization.

The world can have peace only when we, the humans, gain knowledge and universal enlightenment. When we merge races and focus on the identity of us as humans more than anything else; when we believe in unity, only then we can create a peaceful world. But we are far from this realization, and until and unless we realize this ultimate truth, peace can never be brought upon this world.

If your hate could be turned into electricity, it would light up the whole world.

Love is greater than hate, but we live in a world where hatred is spreading like wildfire. People have lost their humanity and this world holds so much hatred that if hatred could be converted into electricity, the whole wide world would light up. So we should focus on spreading positive emotions and cut out negativity from this world to make it a place worth living.

Instinct is something which transcends knowledge. We have, undoubtedly, certain finer fibers that enable us to perceive truths when logical deduction, or any other willful effort of the brain, is futile.

Instinct is an organic action. Few things happen beyond science and technologies. The occurrence of instinct cannot be properly explained. They are like finer fibres that enable us to perceive truths, and there is no logic behind them. One does not have to command the brain to have instinct. It comes organically and is very powerful.

Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments.

One should not give ears to someone else's opinion about them. We should keep on trying harder and harder until we reach our destination. We should have faith in ourselves and let time decide how worthy we are. Everyone's hard work and accomplishments will get reflected in their future.

The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power.

We are living in an era where science is the ultimate answer to everything, and one completely relies on scientific ways to seek answers. We must remember that the ability to think is a gift of God or the Divine Being. If we concentrate properly in whatever you do and do truthfully, our actions become a divine ordain and reflects what God wants us to do.

Of all things, I liked books best.

Books are the hub of knowledge. Books can build up a person and give him enlightenment. It awakens the soul of the readers. Tesla here focuses on the importance of books and how it plays a pivotal role in everyone's life. For him, books are the best things that he had ever known about. This has a universal appeal in itself. Books are definitely the best thing in the world.

Our virtues and our failings are inseparable, like force and matter. When they separate, man is no more.

No man is a complete virtuous or a complete failure. Humans are filled with virtues and failings. Virtues and failings are inseparable. According to Tesla, it is like force and matter and when virtues and failings are separated, man dies. Everybody has a positive and negative side; they have success and failures and no man is truly on one side of the edge, his life combines both.

Most persons are so absorbed in the contemplation of the outside world that they are wholly oblivious to what is passing on within themselves.

This talks about the state of unawareness of the mind in humans. Most people concentrate and get so involved in the physical and outer world that they lack knowledge about themselves and who they truly are. They forget to introspect themselves. One should always know what lies within them and who they really are.

All that was great in the past was ridiculed, condemned, combated, suppressed — only to emerge all the more powerfully, all the more triumphantly from the struggle.

Hardships and troubles don't come to break you. They come to make you even stronger than before. No one achieves heights without failures, struggles, troubles, and hard times. Everyone is mocked at, made fun of, insulted, suppressed at some points in their lives. Those make them who they are. People often come out more powerful, stronger, and brave from those struggles.

We crave for new sensations but soon become indifferent to them. The wonders of yesterday are today common occurrences.

Human desires and wants are boundless. They want to experience new things and emotions every single day. A discovery of yesterday becomes a regularity of today. We have more desires, and when one desire is fulfilled, we become indifferent to them and think of a new desire.

I don't care that they stole my idea … I care that they don't have any of their own.

Originality is unique but a very rare trait. We should never underestimate the power of an idea. When people copy us, we should know that we are on the right track and we are growing. Many people don't have their originality, but being original is highly valued all the time. Those who have genuine ideas, go far beyond in life and achieve greater success than the rest.
