Motivational Carl Jung Quotes To Change Your Life

In this article, we present to you some of the famous Carl Jung Quotes on Love, Relationships, Work, God, Spirituality and More with their meaning.

Carl Jung's full name was Carl Gustav Jung. He was born on 26th July 1875 in the place called Kessewil. His father's name was Paul Jung, while his mother's name was Emilie Jung. Carl Jung had a good intellectual environment in which he grew up. Most of his scholarly studies were a direct result of the atmosphere he was raised in.

Most of us know Jung because of the important theories he gave to us. His theories are relevant even to date. It's believed that Carl Jung aligned with Sigmund Freud in terms of his views and opinions. Jung was also a crucial component of the Psychoanalytic Society.

It's very interesting to note that Jung was multilingual. He had beautiful expertise in various languages, and thus his acumen was truly unsurpassable. He was known to know ancient languages like Sanskrit also.

However, the most intriguing part of Jung's life discussed is his relationship with Freud. Freud himself gave the world so many important theories. Thus, Jung admired him a lot. It's said that they both met in Vienna. Their relationship did grow into a deep one. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, they developed differences with each other. That was unfortunate. However, Jung continues to dominate the world of psychology. He left for heavenly abode on 6th June 1961. Below are some of the famous Carl Jung Quotes.

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

People who look outside are the ones who realise their dreams. They look out in the world in search of their potential. But there are another set of people who look within themselves. They are the ones who introspect and gain knowledge about themselves. While both are correct, the latter ones are truly capable of achieving a lot.

There is no coming to consciousness without pain.

How do you become conscious? You do by only realising and feeling pain. Without experiencing trauma and pressures in life, one cannot reach that divine phase of consciousness. Thus, pain and tribulations are very crucial if one wants to feel conscious.

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.

Sometimes we get extremely irritated by what others do. We tend to stop them or either ignore them. However, this way, we are getting an understanding of ourselves. By actually behaving in the most natural way, we may come to know how we feel. We can come closer to our personality.

We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.

Acceptance is hard. Sometimes we find it hard to come to terms with something. However, the best way to liberate ourselves from depressing thoughts is by accepting reality. If we only indulge in condemnation, we aren't freeing ourselves.

Knowing your darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.

Knowing your virtues and sins is one way of properly understanding others. The best way to understand how others feel is by knowing yourself first. If you see the grey and dark areas of others' lives, you also know the dark areas of yours. This is the most beautiful way of understanding the entire humanity.

Neurosis is always a substitute for legitimate suffering.

People who have mental illnesses of any kind are the ones who are understood by others. That's because people realise that it's a medical illness. However, neurosis is the substitute for legitimate suffering. Otherwise, suffering without reason is considered madness. At least neurosis doesn't get that label.

In all chaos, there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.

Don't they say that the universe was created out of chaos? The Big Bang Theory is one testimony to this. That's why we need to look at things differently. If there's chaos somewhere, look at how the universe was created out of it. Similarly, in disorder, there's order. The best of things can be found in the worst.

Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you.

It's almost stupid to find a perfectly sane man in this world. Even if someone brings a sane person towards you, it's stupid. Thus, what Jung says is that the person who believes in absolute sanity is the one who needs a cure.

Man needs difficulties; they are necessary for health.

What's life without difficulties? The sole aim of life should be teaching us how to live. It should be something that doesn't worry us. If we don't have any pebbles in our way of life, it will become meaningless. What's important is acknowledging the difficulties and considering them good for our health.

The healthy man does not torture others - generally, it is the tortured who turn into torturers.

If you are suffering from anything, you develop a complex. That complex is something that tries to push you to see others also in pain, just as sadists do something. If you are healthy, you would not want to see others in pain. You would only want them to be healthy like you.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.

This quote by Jung resonates with the universal idea that inner vision is very important. We all must make our inner bodies free of any kind of doubts. Your vision will become clear only when you holistically understand your inner soul.

Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

Happiness is very relative and subjective. You may be happy because you have also faced sadness. Thus, the beauty of good moments is only realised by sad and unhappy moments. Thus, whatever that comes our way should be embraced with open arms

It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.

Our perspective matters the most than what the things are. There can be a very rough road ahead of you. However, in your eyes, it may look beautiful. Thus, how we perceive things is the most crucial way of understanding others.

Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.

Love is a very wholesome emotion. If you love someone, you wouldn't want them to dominate you. Where there is love, there won't be any power. And where power dominates, there wouldn't be love.

The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.

Don't they say that necessity is the mother of all inventions? New things come up in this world because our body develops a need for it. It's not just your intellect or instinct that adds to new inventions. Need is the most important factor.

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

This is a very thought-provoking quote by Jung. He's saying that when two new people meet, there's bound to be a reaction. That reaction is like a chemical reaction that will catalyse the personalities of both. Both are going to transform if they meet and interact.

Few more Carl Jung Quotes....

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.

Why do we live? There can be many answers to this question. However, the most pertinent and relevant answer is: kindling a light in the darkness. We live because we want to add light to the darkness that pervades all our lives.

The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases.

Something that suits you may not be something that suits others. What may be best for you, maybe the worst for others? Thus, you don't have to try and fit in the shoes of others. Always find things that are best for you. There's no standard recipe for living your life.

Children are educated by what the grown-up is and not by his talk.

Children aren't educated by what elders talk about. They also don't get educated by their language. What triggers them to be something is how the other person is, as a whole. The mannerisms of the person are something that strikes the mind of a little child.

A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.

Passions can go out of control. Sometimes you feel an extreme desire to do something. Perhaps sometimes passions take the extreme form of greed too. However, you need to go through all these phases to rest your passions.
