Introduction of Nag Panchami

Nag Panchami is one of these critical days, which falls on Shukla Paksha Panchami in Shravan month. It will be commemorated this year on August 13. Snakes are worshipped as human beings in India today, and devotees find a link between Lord Shiva and snakes and pray to the Lord to protect them from serpents. According to the Hindu calendar, Nag Panchami falls on the Panchami, or the Fifth Day of the Shukla Paksha, i.e., Lunar Period, in Sawan month.

Lord Shiva devotees donate milk to temples, make Kheer at home, and fast on this day to honour snakes, who have an inextricable link with the Lord because He wears them around his neck and frames them as ornaments.

As a Yogi, Lord Shiva spent his time in the Himalayas and the jungles, so snakes are an essential part of Lord Shiva's aura. Other Hindu Deities are also associated with snakes, such as Lord Brahma, who created Sheshnag (King of Serpents) and rested on his coil, and Lord Krishna. He defeated Kaliya (Black Snake) in Vrindavan on the banks of the Yamuna River.

Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Padma, Kambala, Karnataka, Ashvatara, Dhritarashtra, Shankhapala, Kaliya, Takshaka, and Pingala are worshipped by those who observe Nag Panchami religiously by Hindu tradition. On this day, they recite the Mahamritunjya Mantra and meditate in response to Lord Shiva's call by chanting 'Om Namaha Shivaya.'

In addition to Snakes, the idols of Deities are washed in milk and worshipped on Nag Panchami. People pray to the Lords to keep them and their loved ones safe from snakes, as snakes emerge from their hiding places in search of dry places at this time of year. Snakes are considered nonviolent and innocent beings, even though they are venomous, and are only said to be competitive when humans attack them.

Snakes must no longer be killed in Hindu customs; instead, they must be respectfully and humbly requested to leave if they enter someone's home or come within the way. To commemorate Nag Panchami, Hindus rush to temples and distribute flowers, milk, and milk-based goodies, as well as Prasad, to the poor. On this day, people go to temples to worship snake deities, and in some cases, they go to snake pits to worship actual snakes, providing them with milk, goodies, and flora. During the competition, the ladies observe a fast or vrat, in which they abstain from eating to demonstrate devotion and discipline. It lasts from sunrise to sunset.

On this auspicious day, no fried or salty foods are available, and the dishes served to vary by location. With the competition approaching, we can put a few famous Nag Panchami recipes to the test to re-energize yourself for this auspicious occasion.
