Best Bob Dylan Quotes and Sayings of All Time

Check out these famous Bob Dylan quotes and sayings to create your own way of thinking. Bob Dylan quotes from categories like Love, Life, Music, Song, Success, and Much more are covered here with their true meaning.

Bob Dylan, a man who ruled America's music industry for 50 years, wasn't just a passing trend.

His real name is known to a lesser population, which is Robert Allen Zimmerman. He is a singer-songwriter, author and a visual artist. He was born in 1941 at Duluth, Minnesota in the United States.

He started with a very decent album called 'Bob Dylan' in 1962, followed by the song called 'blowing in the wind' and then blasted his first ever-popular song that broke various records called 'like a rolling stone'. However, he initiated his career with folk music. Further, he stepped into country and rock music.

He is a genius artist and has written some of the greatest songs including 2×2, Baby, Won't You Be My Baby, Born in Time and many more. He even wrote lyrics for other singers like U2, The Byrads, Johnny Cash.

He is considered a conserved human being, who never smiled during a concert. As for achievements, he has named quite some awards to himself, including Nobel Prize in the literature (2016). Some other mentionable awards are Grammy, Golden Globe Awards, Academy Awards, his recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He was even the first rock star to receive Kennedy Center Honours, and the list doesn't end so nimbly.

Bob even penned down two prominent books named Tarantula (a poetry collection) and Chronicals: volume one (a memoir).

Even today he is remembered as the greatest of all who set high standards for writing lyrics. With changing the dimensions of typical folk music and then moulding powerful songs that had social message disguised within, for example 'blowing in the wind' underlining a voice against racial discrimination, made him one of the most prodigious artists of all time.

With that, here are some notable quotes of Bob Dylan.

There's a wall between you and what you want and you got to leap it.

Everyone has dreams and aspirations, but one who dares to step forward without any angst or fear is solely able to achieve heights of success. The wall here stands for your qualms, stopping you from taking a step further for what you aspire. Once you decide to build the stair of success for yourself, nothing can stop you.

Don't criticize what you can't understand.

Sometimes we are bound to perceive things conventionally; we choose to ignore the different dynamics. Before pointing out the negatives, a person should at least own the complete knowledge about the thing they are speaking against. Don't be blind towards other's opinions and perceptions.

Yesterday's just a memory, tomorrow is never what it's supposed to be.

The past things cannot be changed, so clinging to it will only keep us from moving forward. Tomorrow, our plans and strategies are out of hold and are merely mild hopes for what the future brings. So, possessing them will not bring us the fruit of life. Today is what actually matters. You have a complete hold upon it, so be passionate about the present and live it fully.

Behind every beautiful thing, there's some kind of pain.

Behind every alluring song lyrics, there is some afflictive experience. Bob here highlights how painful ordeal weave into eyes holding things. Being an artist, he states how torments and pains draw art. What might seem to be blemishless may have a history of agony.

And how one of your greatest downfalls builds your highest achievement.

I think the truly natural things are dreams, which nature can't touch with decay.

Apart from your dreams, everything is superficial and can be eliminated from your life anytime. Only your dreams are something that will always be alive in you, no matter what.

Even the powerful nature had no hold upon it. So choose your dreams to be your only trust and build it in your destiny.

When you have got nothing, you have got nothing to loose.

Bob here beautifully tries to say that when you have lost everything, become nothing, your dreams are tattered and you have nowhere to be then is when you can start again, with new ways, any way you want to.

Start fresh. Start again. Without any fear inside as you have got nothing to lose this time. Make new hopes, new destination.

A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.

The world has made some clichés about a successful life and a successful person. But Bob states the truth by saying that one that does what his heart craves to do is, in reality, is a success.

Earning money or earning fame is not something that will provide you with true peace and harmony, once you follow the path of your dreams, you shall be truly blessed.

There is no equality. The only thing people all have in common is that they are all going to die.

Everyone pursues different paths in life. They are structured differently. They have different perspectives on life and see different meanings of different things. People live different lives with different people around them. Their skin is different, their heart has different dreams. Their destinations are different, and their journey differs too. There is only one thing that unites every soul on this planet, and that is death.

Bob tries to tell how everyone may be all so different and distinct, yet they all will cease to be present one day.

People seldom do what they believe in. They do what is convenient, then repent.

In this compact world, people tend to choose the easy path; that is perceived as upright. They often try to belong with the crowd and wander on the comfortable road. And then later, they despise their choice throughout life, and often regret that they ignored the sound of what their heart actually wanted.

Sometimes what we want differs from the stereotypical and conventional entity, but we should follow our heart and fight for what we actually want, only then can we be truly happy.

He who is not busy being born is busy dying.

The real purpose of life that has been enclosed inside the superficial covets is to truly be happy and to work to achieve their dreams.

In life, people should follow their hearts, do new things, learn new things, be at new places, be alive and be born at every verge.

Those who are fatigued out of being is solely waiting for death.

Don't just sit feebly for things to turn out sterling. Stand up and work for your destiny.

If you need somebody you can trust, trust yourself.

This world is filled with people wearing façade, being something that they are not. Even the closest of your friend or family can turn out to be leaden. Everyone is seeking to be the grandest and hence are masking themselves by tearing others down.

So Dylan teaches us only to trust yourself, as there are imposters in people you believe to be yours.

Trust in yourself, and it will benefit you in many ways.

Experience teaches us that silence terrifies people the most.

One of the greatest revenge that one can pull is by doing nothing. When we are young, we are gullible and naïve and therefore, we engage ourselves in proving our stands to even those who have closed their minds to any opinion.

This is not only frustrating but also fruitless.

We learn to stay in our space with maturity, even if people don't understand us, without saying anything, being true to self. And this is what makes our stand the strongest and make these narrow-minded, goads.

You're right from your side, I'm right from mine.

Every other person is different and has different mindsets, different visions and different insights. There are times when our hypothesis repel each other, and our conceptions differ widely. In these particular times, the only sensible thing that you could do is accept that our process of apprehending things is diverse and move forward, without any dispute.

Every cause that I ever fought, I fought it full within regret or shame.

Bob Dylan has written some extremely popular songs on various social issues and cause. Here, he inspires us by explaining how he gave his complete percent to every fight he fought. That is how a person should wave in his life, give all his potential into what he believes in, without any internal guilt. Without any doubt.

A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom.

One that is a slave to someone or something is indeed miserable to every extent but those who are all free, need to be alert about the responsibility that belongs with it.

Even being blessed with everything at a hand reach, the one who stays ethical and sane is the true hero, is truly a good person.
